Beginners Canoe & Kayak (evenings)

This is a fun introduction to both Kayaking and Canoeing, the course is designed to give new comers the foundation skills required to become confident in a still water environment. Throughout this 8 hour course you will be introduced to following skills:

Equipment selection, basic water safety, balance and trim of your boat, effective forward paddling, turning methods and capsize drills.

Intermediate Kayak or Canoe (evenings)

The intermediate course is a discipline specific course for those who have completed our beginners course, or for those who have already developed foundation skills in Canoeing or Kayaking.

As well as learning new techniques, we aim to help you become more fluid and consistent in your chosen craft and a competent member of an independent group. Throughout the 8 hour course we will be covering the following techniques in your chosen discipline (either kayak or canoe):

Progressive maneuvers, combination strokes, efficient forwards paddling, edge control, recovery strokes, synchronization of your boat, body and blade, basic rescue skills, use and appropriate application of safety equipment.
