Boat Handling Experience Days 2019 The Pirate Castle will be running our popular Boat Handling Experience Days throughout 2019. These non-certificated one day courses provide friendly, hands-on training with our experienced, NCBA-accredited trainers, covering basic canal boat and lock handling skills. After School Kayaking Returns for Summer! Now that summer's getting closer it's time to get active, have fun and gain skills on the waterway with The Pirate Castle! We're delighted to announce the return of our ever-popular kayaking club for 8-16 year olds, starting this Thursday 11th May between 4.30 - 6pm. These sessions will run every Thursday until the end of summer term. We fundraise to offer a heavily subisidised rate of only £3.00 per session and strongly recommend pre-booking to guarantee a place, although some drop-in spaces will be available for every session. Refurbishment Update - January 2017 Thanks to a Section 106 community grant from Camden Council, renovations at The Pirate Castle are well under way and we're on target to re-open in March 2017! Along with improving our facilities and community spaces, the Council's grant has allowed us to renew our kayak fleet and replace our ageing narrowboat, so that even more people can get involved and enjoy our unique approach to learning, adventure and community on the Regent's Canal! Black Pearl - a new boat for Christmas! Thanks to S106 funding from Camden Council, we are proud to introduce the newest addition to The Pirate Castle fleet! Black Pearl is a stunning, 57 foot long narrowboat with a modern, well-equipped interior and one the longest, most spacious foredecks we have ever seen on a narrowboat - perfect for watching the canalscape unfold around you! Angel Festival The annual Angel Canal Festival http://www.angelcanalfestival.org/ takes place usually on the first Sunday in September in and around City Road Basin in Islington. Read more
Canalway Cavalcade The Pirate Castle attends the Canalway Cavalcade in Little Venice, Westminster, every year on the early May Bank Holiday weekend. Both of our canal boats are open and on show and we also provide free kayaking taster sessions on the Saturday and Sunday. You can usually find us about half way down the Paddington Basin, close to the entrance to Paddington Station. Why not drop by and say hello? We look forward to seeing you there!
