Go! London Funding Award! The Pirate Castle is proud to be a part of Go! London. In the first round of the Go! London Foundation Pillar, we'll join other grantees to support nearly 18,000 young Londoners through physical activity and sport! From improving our young people's physical, mental and social wellbeing to equipping them with skills to improve their prospects, we see first-hand how physical activity and sport can have a transformative effect on young lives. Adult Paddle Club Join us for a paddle on our beautiful stretch of the Regent's Canal and over time your abs, arms, shoulders, back and core will become stronger, your stamina and cardiovascular health will improve and you’ll feel much fitter – but that’s not all! Along with offering low-impact exercise, kayaking and canoeing are scientifically proven to improve mental health and wellbeing! Led by our friendly and experienced British Canoeing instructor team, our affordable sessions are suitable for all ability levels, from beginner to more experienced paddlers. Read more
The 'Knot Ready' Ropework Course! The 'Knot Ready' Ropework Course The Pirate Castle has launched our brand new knot tying and ropework course! Perfect for new boaters, or those about to buy a boat to learn the ropes (as well as a brush up for those with more experience). The course will cover the tying of 12 of the important knots you need to know, will show you how to splice and whip, along with rope storage and rope handling techniques and include advice on boat mooring. Boat Handling Experience Days 2023 The Pirate Castle will be running our popular in-house Boat Handling Experience Days throughout 2023. These non-certificated one day attendance courses provide a friendly, hands-on experience supervised by our skilled and experienced staff, and cover all the basic canal boat and lock handling skills required to make your future boating a much more enjoyable (and safe) experience. PIRATE CLUB YOUTH SESSIONS: BOOK NOW! Our ever-popular Pirate Club returns for the summer term and bookings are now open! Our after school and Saturday sessions are the perfect way for kids aged 8+ to have fun, let of steam and learn new skills on the waterway. CAMDEN'S PIRATES ARE BACK FOR EASTER FUN!! With kids back at school, spring in the air and light flickering at the end of the Covid-19 tunnel, we're over the moon to be raising The Pirate Castle's gangplank in time for the Easter holiday! Holiday Scheme activities focus on kayaking and canoeing for kids aged 8 - 16, providing fantastic opportunities for them to get active, let off steam, gain new skills and have fun in a safe, rewarding and supportive setting in the heart of Camden Town. 2021 RE-OPENING DELAYED - PLEASE HELP US SURVIVE THIS STORM! Regrettably, due the worsening Covid-19 situation, the likelihood of further restrictions being introduced and our ongoing commitment to keeping all service users, staff and volunteers safe, The Pirate Castle will not re-open on 4th January as planned. We all had high hopes for a brighter start to 2021 and are devastated to be starting the new year with our doors closed once again. Although this is disappointing news, rest assured that we’ll be keeping an eye on the situation and are poised to resume activities as soon as restrictions allow and it’s safe for us to do so.
