Canoeing
A canoe is a small boat, typically human-powered, although it can also be powered by sails or small electric motors. Canoes usually are pointed at both bow and stern and are normally open on top, but can be decked over (similar to a kayak).
In its human-powered form, the canoe is propelled using paddles - usually with two people. Paddlers face in the direction of travel, either seated or in a kneeling position directly upon the hull. Canoe paddles tend to be single-bladed.
The oldest recovered canoe in the world is the canoe of Pesse (the Netherlands). Carbon dating revealed that it was constructed somewhere between 8200 and 7600 BC.
